Suitcase Coffin

Hello my son

How have you been

Where are you now

What have you seen

I’ve seen the Rocky Mountains

Borealis haze

I’ve been trapped in a hotel

And I think for days

I worked in oil cities

And when I needed pain

Well I’d fall in love

And then walk away

This suitcase coffin was made for me

Within I carry all my things

You never know what life will bring

So with me bury all my things

Hello my son

How have you been

Where are you now

What have you seen

I’ve seen wild horses

In forest fires

I learned my greatest weakness

Was my own desires

Between a rock and hard place

I couldn’t pick a side

But I watched the sun set

On that great divide

You know I’m at home

In my mind

For me

It’s been some time

Street fight under street lights

And bon fire

The scars are worth the ride

There but for the grace of god go I

A story to write

Maybe if I survive it

I’ve seen good men fail

And lose everything

I’ve seen California

And man its falling in

Eat a hand full

And feel the world spin

You can tell by the trail made

I’ll be back again
